Originally from Lebanon, I am thrilled to bring a 19-year worth of experience in teaching and coaching, mentoring, middle and senior leadership. Foremost, I belong in the classroom and love helping my students walk out of their comfort zone through their individual learning pathways to identify targets, overcome challenges, and develop skills to land in their growth zone and flourish in their inquiry-based learning journey.

An avid reader, a hiker on trail and a movie buff at leisure time, I am also an amateur pianist and artist who has been hooked to philately since my early childhood years.

Dara Lim Yen Yee

Dara Lim Yen Yee

Music & Performing Art Teacher

Drawn to the warm tone of the cello, I decided to study Cello Performance for my bachelor’s degree at the Chinese Culture University in Taiwan. While I was pursuing this degree, I knew I wanted more people to understand and learn the beauty of music. This is because I believe that music is not just a form of art but also a universal language through which people can communicate, express themselves, and relate to one another; so, I started teaching after I graduated.

Before joining Peninsula, I taught in two schools that employed the IB curriculum and IGCSE curriculum respectively. I also pursued my Post Graduate Diploma in Education to be a better teacher through teaching in a fun and relatable way through these curricula. Besides teaching, I am also active in performing as a cellist in the Penang Symphony Orchestra.

I discovered my interest in teaching during my undergraduate Business studies when I was tutoring primary school, secondary school, and TAFE students for some pocket money. It was through this experience that I realised I would much rather work in a school environment, with student-teacher interaction at the core of my work, as opposed to sitting behind a desk in an office. Before I knew it, I’d enrolled in a postgraduate teaching course and never looked back.

During my studies I was also an avid traveller, having visited 24 countries prior to Malaysia. I’m very excited to have Malaysia as the 25th country on my travel list. My other interests include basketball and snorkelling, amongst others.
