Forget textbooks—Year 7 Geography students at Peninsula International School Australia (PISA) took learning to the streets this week, conducting a ‘Walking Audit’ as part of their study on ‘Place and Liveability.’
Equipped with critical thinking skills and a checklist of 28 criteria, students assessed footpaths, road crossings, traffic flow, safety, facilities, and aesthetics in their local neighbourhoods. This hands-on approach allowed them to analyse how urban spaces are designed, managed, and impact daily life—all essential knowledge for future global citizens.
By stepping outside the classroom, PISA students experienced real-world learning at its best, making meaningful connections between geography, city planning, and community well-being. Who knew a simple walk could reshape perspectives on livability?
