I have 21 years of teaching experience across three countries and have served as a school leader for 14 years in two previous top tier schools in Oman and South Africa. Listening, learning, and understanding are the cornerstones of my commitment to PISA. Building and nurturing strong relationships form the foundation of my educational philosophy. I graduated from Central China Normal University majoring in MTCSOL (Master Teaching of Chinese to Speakers of Other Language), which is a comprehensive and prestigious university on the list of “211 National Project” and “985 National Project” and also obtained CTCSOL (Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages), PSC (Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi) 2A level. I am also a qualified HSK examiner and I  have various certificates in relation to Chinese studies. I have more than 18 years of experience as a Mandarin teacher. I have taught in government Chinese schools and few international schools. I taught IGCSE and AS Level Chinese and my students have all scored well in the IGCSE Chinese as a First Language and Second Language papers. Many of my students have scored Top in the World in Mandarin as a Foreign Language paper. I’m very caring and passionate in interacting with students and parents. Previously, I led the boarding program at Sunway International School, where I focused on raising operational standards and implementing structured procedures and activities to support the holistic development of our boarders. Currently, I serve as the Head of Boarding at Peninsula International School Australia – Malaysia Campus. I have joined a few Science conferences mainly on robotics and STEAM during my course of studies and work. With a professional certification for teaching French, I also have experience teaching the French language with native speaker French students from ages 7-12. Malaysia is my first international country where I am teaching second and third language learners French. In my previous school here, I was the French teacher for both Primary and Secondary, and Head of the Modern Foreign Languages Department. I have experience running the IGCSE exams with my students achieving very good results as well as being the speaking moderator for the exams. I hope to bring the same expertise to Peninsula and applying it to the VCE curriculum. Children are my true passion—I find great fulfillment in engaging and empowering them to learn more about themselves and the world around them. Witnessing their growth and development as they discover their strengths through inquiry, exploration, and social engagement is incredibly rewarding.

In addition to my five and a half years of teaching experience, I have worked with children and youth for 18 years in various settings. My goal as an educator is to mentor and guide children in their holistic development, fostering their confidence and helping them discover their passions. As an Official Jolly Phonics Trainer, I have a deep understanding of the foundational elements of the English language. By breaking down concepts in a clear and accessible way, I help students grasp and apply their knowledge effectively.

I believe in each child’s potential—not only to grow in knowledge and understanding but also in character. My teaching approach is integrative, student-centered, and inquiry-based. I see teaching as a process of facilitation, where students are encouraged to explore, experience, and engage in hands-on learning that leads to meaningful understanding.

My passion for teaching is deeply rooted in the joy of witnessing young learners grow in confidence and curiosity. I find fulfilment in helping students find their voice through language and being a supportive figure in their educational journey as that’s what truly drives me.

To me, every class is an opportunity to leave a meaningful impact, knowing that even the smallest moments in class can shape a student’s mindset for life and that’s what makes teaching so meaningful.

Patrick Durkin

Middle School Mathematics Teacher and Year 6 mentor

I am entering my 19th year of International teaching. I have worked in diverse places like Laos, Bahrain, Nigeria and Kazakhstan. My passion derives from the joy I have being with the students, getting to know them and instilling a sense of wonder and enjoyment in Mathematics. I also like to emphasize the importance it has in developing cognitive capacity, creating links to the world, and learning other skills like collaboration, organisation, discussing and putting forward propositions or questions.

My education was completed mostly in New Zealand though I did my Masters in English Literature online whilst working in Nigeria. My personal strengths are building relationships, recognising the school and parents and local providers as one whole community and working to make that community stronger every day.

Every week I have the students increase their skills in learning by reading, learning by listening, learning by collaborating and discussing and learning by practicing. I am thoroughly enjoying it here at PISA and I can see the students want to learn, and love the curious look on their faces as they consider a concept.

Nancy Nesha A/P Parames

Senior School English Teacher

I hold a Master of Education from Murdoch University and a Bachelor of Education in TESL from University Putra Malaysia.

With nearly eight years of teaching experience, I have worked in a variety of educational settings, ranging from small learning centers to large international schools. My primary expertise lies in teaching ESL to students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, with a particular focus on secondary students. I specialize in teaching both first-language English and ESL, primarily catering to students from Years 7 through Year 11. Over the years, I have helped students develop their language skills and prepared them for key assessments, including the IGCSE examinations and lower secondary checkpoint tests.

One of my greatest strengths as an educator is my ability to adapt teaching methodologies to suit the unique needs and capabilities of each student. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, fostering strong relationships with my students to help them reach their full potential.

What drives my passion for teaching is the profound responsibility of shaping young minds beyond just delivering lessons. Teaching is also an unstoppable journey of learning and relearning as a lifelong learner where new ideas, technologies and global events constantly reshape the way we understand and teach.

With a PhD and Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and a BA in English Translation, I bring over two decades of experience in English instruction. My teaching journey spans universities, international schools, and language institutes, where I have taught English, academic writing, and exam preparation courses such as IELTS, TOEFL, and FCE. I have held roles including
Head of English and ESL Departments where I also mentored teachers and led
curriculum development.

Beyond the classroom, I have conducted numerous teacher training programs and workshops. I am known for my collaborative leadership style, ability to build high-performing teams, and commitment to academic excellence. My passion for teaching is deeply rooted in the belief that education is a powerful tool for shaping lives. I see educators as more than instructors, they are mentors who inspire confidence, nurture values, and help students reach their full potential. Guiding learners to grow both linguistically and personally is what continues to fuel my commitment to this profession.

A passionate and experienced Science and Chemistry educator with over 15 years of teaching in multicultural environments across the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, and China. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Far Eastern University in the Philippines and have completed 24 units toward a Master’s in Education, majoring in Curriculum and Development.

Beyond the classroom, I am an advocate for curriculum development and innovation. I consistently seek opportunities to enhance my practice through collaboration, reflective teaching, and continued professional development. My experience in international schools has equipped me with a global perspective and a strong understanding of inclusive education.

I have worked with a wide range of year levels and diverse student communities throughout my career.

I have a strong grasp of various curriculum frameworks and am experienced in using portfolio assessments and digital tools to support student learning. I am known for my ability to adapt quickly, build meaningful relationships with students, and create engaging and inclusive learning environments. My passion for teaching is rooted in the joy of seeing students grow in confidence, develop independence, and discover their own potential.

I am a dedicated educator with more than 12 years of teaching experience in international schools across Malaysia. My areas of expertise include, Physical Education, Swimming, Bahasa Melayu and Netball coaching. I hold a First Class Honours Degree in Sports Management, which has given me a strong foundation in sports science, coaching, and educational practice.

I am passionate about creating engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage students to grow in confidence and skills. Over the years, I have developed swimming programs that helped many students gain water confidence and coached netball teams to participate successfully in school level tournaments.

My strengths is adaptability, creativity, and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. I believe that education is not just about academic success but also about shaping resilience, teamwork, and character. Seeing my students progress and achievements continues to inspire and motivate me as a teacher.

With over 12 years of experience in Malaysian schools, I am passionate about promoting literacy, reading, and information skills among students. My background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science, enriched by a Diploma in Art and Design and professional Jolly Grammar Training Certificate. This combination allows me to bring both creativity and strong literacy foundations into the library.

I am dedicated to creating a welcoming and engaging library environment where students feel inspired to read and explore. One of my key achievements includes leading my previous school to win the Battle of the Books competition for three consecutive years, a reflection of strong teamwork and a vibrant reading culture.

As a teacher librarian, driven by my deep love for literature, I believe that learning should be fun. I incorporate interactive and enjoyable teaching methods to help students learn effectively while nurturing curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong love for reading.
