Yu Lu Zhang in Year 3 won a Picasso International Youth Painting Competition Gold Award for her artwork. This has been displayed in one of the Louvre’s exhibitions.
Her work was also selected and published in a national children’s art publication in China called 小作家报 (Little Artist Publication). Yu Lu had the following to say about this special piece of art:
“In my artwork, I wanted to combine Pablo Picasso’s unique art style with my Chinese cultural background. I included traditional Chinese elements that are interesting to me such as majestic dragons, adorable pandas, beautiful lanterns and other mythical details.”
What makes Yu Lu’s artwork particularly meaningful is the way she brings together different artistic influences and her own cultural identity. By incorporating familiar Chinese cultural symbols into a style inspired by Picasso, she has created a piece that is both imaginative and personal. Her work demonstrates how young artists can explore the world around them while expressing their own experiences, interests and perspectives.
